Top 10 Honored at TJC
From the desk of Celia Tucker, Academic Counselor,
It was an honor to accompany Brook Hill students ranked in the top 10 academically to Tyler Junior College this week as they were honored for their outstanding academic achievements. Sitting with them and watching and listening as they talked with TJC Administrators about the prestigious colleges and universities they were going to attend, about their chosen career paths, and about their educational opportunities in general, totally gave me chill bumps. Watching as they gave the presenters their undivided attention, as they held doors for other students and adults, and as thanked TJC staff for the time they spent planning this well-coordinated event, yes, totally gave me more chill bumps. They are so grown up. They are so mature. They are so going to be missed.
This event made me again reflect on what an honor it is for me to be at Brook Hill. Walking down the halls early in the mornings and having sleepy, study laden students look up with a smile and say, ”Good morning, Mrs. Tucker,” puts the pep in my step. The wonderful thing is that this is the environment everywhere I go on campus. Happy students, content students, confident students, unselfish students. It is the norm. It is natural. It comes from inside. It is the Lord.
