The Color of Fire: Studying Chemical Reactions in Chemistry

What’s happening at the atomic level when you see the different colors of light in fireworks or the aurora borealis? Electron excitement, that’s what! Chemistry students learned this week how energy absorption and emission in metals results in a beautiful display of color.  The heavens declare the glory of God, and so do simple chemical compounds heated with a Bunsen burner in chemistry lab.
