Shrew!
From the desk of Glenn Ballard, Fine Arts Director:
The 2015 Dinner Theatre is now history, but the reviews keep rolling in.
Rhonda said, “You managed to take the prose of Shakespeare and present it in an understandable yet amusing manner. Thank you for a wonderful evening.”
Michelle shared this, “Outstanding! Such great entertainment from an amazingly talented cast! Incredible performance.”
Vicki wrote, “I am a very tough critic, but WOW!!! I was impressed! The set was so beautiful, the costumes were bright and colorful! Cast, you did an amazing job!”
And James added, “It was amazing. It was a thrill ride and a joy and I am grateful for the experience. You brought life to your characters in a way that stirred those of us watching.”
As the director I want to say thank you to all of my cast members that invested so many hours in this production. The hard work and dedication paid off in many ways. Our patrons were thoroughly impressed; every actor grew and matured during the rehearsal process; as a team we created something very memorable and we forged some special friendships along the way. And I am very proud of you. I am grateful to our show sponsors Susan and Paul Webb for their generous support, and also to our SOFA volunteers for doing so much to help bring my vision to life. We are so thankful and proud of our reputation across the region for being a “first-class act.” Our 17th annual dinner theatre production of Shrew only served to reinforce that reputation.
Of all the wonderful things that people said about our performance, there is one more that I want to share. This one is especially special because it came from the playwright and composer of Shrew.
Dear Mr. Ballard,
I am Richard Barbie, the author of Shrew! I recently visited your school’s web site and saw the spectacular collection of photos from your recent dinner theatre production. I have never had the opportunity to see a production of Shrew other than my own and I wish I could have seen your show. The photos convey the joy and enthusiasm that I hope the script provides as well as displaying very professional production values. I will be writing to Dramatic Publishing to advise them of your show and I hope you would be willing to share some of your photos for the website album. I noticed that this is your second production of Shrew and it looks like this was an even bigger success than the first! Thank you for making my show look so good!
Sincerely,
R. A. Barbie
