During spring semester the seniors have been studying lyric poetry in English 12, learning the general characteristics of lyric as a genre. Students were assigned to write a poem and then present it orally to their class on Thursday or Friday. The students really worked hard to find the language of the poet and moved a few steps closer to grasping firsthand the particular sensibilities of lyric poets. There was candy and cookies and brownies, and yes, much poetry and laughter and snapping/clapping.
