OASIS Day 2016
This Thursday, students went out across East Texas to serve our surrounding communities. Students volunteered their time to help nursing homes, paint houses for PATH, clean up parks like the Children’s Park, pregnancy centers, firemen, non-profits, churches, missionary organizations, those less fortunate, and many others who are in need within our own Brook Hill community. It was truly a day where Others Are Served Instead of Self (OASIS). Afterward, our groups ate lunch both in the community and at school
Here is a sample of some places we served:
- Bullard Day Care
- Bullard Fire Department
- Elijah’s Retreat
- Pets Fur People
- HOPE
- PATH
- East Texas Food Bank
- Meals on Wheels
- Meals for Pets
- Texas State Veterans Home
- Child Advocacy Center
- Tyler Animal Shelter
- Bullard Baptist
- Children’s Park
- First Baptist Church, Bullard
- Providence Park Rehabilitation & Skilled Nursing
- And, several needs around our community, including families among our own Brook Hill Family who needed an extra hand!
This was also a great way for our students to follow in Christ’s example – for he did not come to be served, but to serve, and give his life as a ransom for many (Mark 10:45). In the same way, our students set out to not be served, but to serve others.
We hope you enjoy these pictures, and soak in the weekend as you reflect on the suffering and resurrection of our Lord & Savior, Jesus Christ.
