Kindergarten & 3rd Grade in the Science Lab
Kindergarten students read Bartholomew and the Oobleck by Dr. Seuss in class. The next great adventure happened when students came to the science lab to make their own Oobleck! Mrs. Brindley discussed the properties of matter and the students were excited to discover that an Oobleck was both a liquid and a solid! In fact, an Oobleck is a non-newtonian fluid. The scientific definition is this: a type of fluid that does not have one single value for viscosity.* In other words, its ability to resist deformation from shear or tensile stress changes according to the conditions. As an added bonus, every kindergartner went home with the recipe!

3rd Graders also had an interesting week in science as they prepared for the Lunar Olympics. Students used a formula to calculate how high they would be able to jump on the moon.
