How to Form a Solid in Chemistry

In Pre-AP chemistry students are learning about the different types of chemical reactions so we went into the lab to observe the formation of a solid (aka a precipitate). It’s always interesting to hear student comments because when they think of solids they imagine something like a block of wood, not tiny particles of powder suspended in water. Labs and experiences like these give them visual reinforcement of chemical concepts that often occur on a submicroscopic scale.
