On Friday members of the Guard Chorale competed at the first round of the TAPPS State Vocal Competition in Arlington. Earning Superior ratings for their solos were Chesley Kelly, Allie Lake, and Elaina Yeager. The Guard Chorale Men’s Ensemble also received a Superior rating. Members of this ensemble include Chipper Adams, Andrew Edwards, David Chambless, Alec Kitt, Kyle Webb, Parker Galbraith, John Dixon, Bailey Gunter, and Peyton Adams, as well as Mrs. Celia Tucker, guest percussionist.

On April 23, the full choir will be competing in 4 larger ensembles and sight-reading. Please congratulate and encourage these students today and over the next few weeks as we prepare for the next round.

Congratulations to Varsity Orchestra for a very successful first leg of the TAPPS State String Championship!

Last Friday, April 1st,  15 orchestra members participated in the TAPPS State Solo & Small Ensemble contest held at UT Arlington earning 4 Solo Superiors by Denise Tan – violin, Alex Ellis-cello, Brian Guo – cello & Alan Zhu – clarinet and 6 Small Ensemble Superiors,  bringing home 24 Superior medals and a total of 171 points!    These points will be added to any points earned at the  TAPPS State String Concert & Sight-Reading contest held on April 21st in Temple to determine results of the 2016 TAPPS State String Championship.

Please congratulate our fine musicians when you see them and encourage them as they continue to work very hard towards the final leg of their championship competition.
