The first Sunday of each month is Shalom at the Rhoads, when students can relax, have some fun and enjoy a small family environment. Chris Yang and Ethan Kim enjoy s’mores while other students play games and hang out with the family.
Instead of the typical Saturday morning brunch, we inaugurated the opening of our new girls’ boarding house with a pancake breakfast! We ate pancakes, sausage, and fruit, hung out, and enjoyed one another’s company in freshly furnished living space. Mr. And Mrs. Albea made over 180 pancakes for our 65 students.
Tuesday night Mr. Fletcher (Headmaster) and his family invited our boarding community into their home for an Ice Cream Social. Our students played games, socialized, and, of course, created and consumed their own ice cream creation. With activities, 3 flavors of ice cream, 7 toppings, and 65 students we had the recipe for an enjoyable evening.
Walls, windows and floors come alive when just the right furnishings, decor and personal loving touch are added. Kudos to Carrie Langemeier who has done a beautiful job of transforming the girls’ house into a home. Somebody call Southern Living. They’re going to want this place in their next issue.

Our beautiful new boarding house is almost complete. Just another week or two and we’ll have our grand opening. Be watching for further updates.
Tonight the student residents feasted on steak, buffalo wings, beef lasagna, vegetables, chicken and rice soup, garlic bread, salad bar and desserts including chocolate creme pie, pumpkin pie and bread pudding. ARE YOU KIDDING ME!!!
