Recently, Yiling Cao was selected as an “up and coming” Junior to have one of her drawings, “The World Through His Eyes”  included in the Senior Ehibition at the Tyler Museum of Art. The opening reception and awards ceremony was Sunday, April 3, 2016. Since Yiling is a Junior and the awards are reserved for Seniors only, she was not eligible to receive an award this year, but it is considered an honor for a Junior to be included in the Senior Exhibition. There is a ballot box at the exhibit for the Viewer’s Choice Award where spectators can cast a vote for their favorite piece in the exhibit. Yiling is eligible for this award. If you attend the exhibit, please cast your vote for Yiling! The Exhibit will continue through May 1, 2016. Congratulations to Yiling!

Congratulations for Yiling Cao are also in order as she placed 4th in state at the 4A TAPPS Seek and Sketch Competition. 100 + art students participated in this competition from the state of Texas! The participants brought with them a drawing board and their choice of drawing media. Once they checked in at registration, students were given a sheet of paper and were allowed to go outside, find an interesting area to draw, and given 2 hours to complete the drawing. Yiling worked with charcoal and drew a stunning image of a street corner.
