To explore the effect of buoyancy on objects, students in 8th grade science measured the weight of the objects in and out of the water and calculated the buoyant force. They then measured the amount of water displaced and found the weight of the displaced water. What a great way for students to try to prove Archimedes’ Principle while learning about the forces at work on objects in fluids!
